Weather

Graupel fell for the entire trip, about an inch of accumulation over a 3 hour trip. Southwest winds near and above treeline were strong enough to drift snow onto easterly-facing slopes

Snowpack

About five inches of new snow accumulated in the past 24 hours, mostly graupel. Winds were strong enough to drift snow into shallow dense slabs near treeline but were stubborn and only showed signs of instability with heavy input on steep, no consequence slopes. On southerly-facing slopes, new snow was being scoured leaving a very inconsistent layer of sun/wind crust and thin but slick layers of fresh graupel.
