Snowpack
We could not assess the snowpack across the valley but it was certainly wind-loaded as it was an east-facing convex rollover.
Avalanche
The avalanche that we saw catch the skier (right of two in picture) broke near the convexity, near exposed rocks, and propagated roughly 1/4 mile (rough estimate from a mile away).
