Weather

Clear skies and cold to start the day. Temps warmed to the 20s and light winds blew from the west.

Snowpack

Overall, the snowpack remains thin around Cottonwood Pass. Evidence of recent wind-loading was widespread on ATL east aspects. I dug on a north slope at 12200' in a sheltered bowl. HS ranged from 90-110cm with weak snow top to bottom. Boot pen went to the ground and all layers were a varying degree of fist hard snow. The most remarkable finding was 20cm of 3-4mm DH chains at the bottom of the snowpack. CTM14 SC at the DH interface.

Avalanche

Observed some very small Loose Dry avalanches just below ridgeline on east slopes
