With avalanche hazard high in the alpine and considerable at lower elevations, we decided to play it safe and stuck to fun low consequence terrain in cutblocks around 1800m today. We sidehilled some small but steep features like cutbacks and below wind/cornice features to see if the storm snow would react but didn't get any cracking. We suspect that the new storm slabs are a lot more reactive at treeline and in the alpine where there has been more wind effect. It was stormy out there with around 5-10 cm accumulating this afternoon and temperatures hovered just below freezing at 1700m.
