Temperatures were closing in on 60 at the valley floor near Westcliffe. High thin clouds rolled in mid-afternoon greenhousing the San Luis Valley, leaving the air feeling stagnant.
Snowpack
Overall the coverage looks very thin. East-facing slopes are the only aspects that have continuous snow coverage at near and above treeline terrain. Northeast and southeast have pockets of continuous coverage, becoming less consistent as you move farther away from straight east. The west-facing slopes are quite bare at all elevation bands except northwest.
Avalanche
Several old crowns observed on east and southeast-facing slopes above treeline. These likely ran after the 2/24/22 storm but not certain. No recent wet activity could be seen but a glide crack could be seen on a southeast-facing slope near an old crown.
