Weather

5° F on the pass @ 0800, warmed up to mid-teens. Mostly cloudy skies with short periods of sun Moderate west wind with strong gusts at ridge top, visible snow transport onto leeward slopes ATL. Light snow with little accumulation this morning, outside of wind transport.

Snowpack

30-40cm of storm snow had settled and shrunk a bit overnight. The wind didn't hit it until this morning, but quickly whipped it up into shallow soft slabs below the ridge tops. The windslab was not reactive to ski cuts on a slope-scale, but popped off easily in hand shear tests. The storm snow interface was well bonded to the dust/crust/facet layer below.

Avalanche

No avalanches observed. View into steep ATL terrain was obscured.
