Weather

The trip up was warm and sunny, 22 F with calm winds. As the west side of the Sawatch range came into view, there was no noticeable wind transport happening at ridge line but there were obvious signs of previous, strong west winds at and above treeline.

Snowpack

The total snow depth at 9600' on a northeast aspect was 90 centimeters. The top 15 centimeters was recent new snow(fist) with a 45 centimeter layer of facets below it (4F). All of this is resting on 3-4mm depth hoar which easily pours out of the profile wall once exposed and touched. ECTN 24 near ground
