Weather
Lingering orographics kept a light fog to the air. Moderate to strong westerly winds with cold temps made it feel like a true winter's day.
Snowpack
Recent winds have ravaged this area. Most higher alpine slopes are more wind-blasted than wind-loaded. Near treeline slopes where the snow is collecting, thin wind slabs are stacking on top of a mixed bag of crusts and hardened old snow surfaces. Despite the poor upper snowpack structure, the new snow seemed to be well bonded to the layers below. Other than a few cracks a couple of inches deep, no other signs of instability were observed.
