Mild temperatures, mostly sunny skies, and gusty westerly winds. Beautiful afternoon in the mountains.
Snowpack
West and northwest winds drifted snow onto leeward slopes, but wind-loading was not observed all day and only intense for short periods of time. From Silverton in the morning drifting was observed on peaks around town at upper elevations and during the tour drifting observed on multiple peaks up Cement Creek and on Red Mountain Pass. Sastrugi has formed on Ridgelines. North facing slopes continue to hold dry snow and the most recent storm snow has settled and bonded well. On sunny slopes and low elevations slopes a pencil hard crust sits on the surface created by sunny skies and warm temperatures. This crust sits on-top of a garbage mixture of crusts and facet. No cracking or collapsing.
