Weather
Few clouds, no precipitation and moderate to intense blowing snow above 11,000 ft. SE facing aspect NTL to >TL. Split of couloir nearing the top, on the side that is looker's left.
Snowpack
2-3 inches of precipitation from previous night on top of a frozen crust. Generally cohesive below crust.
Avalanche
Storm Slab/Wind Slab released at the split of couloir nearing the top. Release was at the entrance to the looker's left side. Above the split, the couloir was heavily wind loaded with 8-10 in. of new snow on top of the frozen crust. Below the split the new snow totals were between 3-5in. Slab triggered as we were down climbing to retreat from the heavily wind loaded area. Debris ran for 300 ft., slide was not large enough to bury someone. No natural avalanche activity observed.
