Weather

Scattered clouds and light winds near treeline. Blowing snow at times. 27F degrees.

Snowpack

Below treeline areas receiving direct sun were melting and easy to posthole. The overnight Graupel and snow accumulated 2-4cm in protected places. On lee aspects near and above treeline wind deposits were mostly soft and easily ski penetrated. West facing slopes were wind scoured in the same elevations. I found soft and tapering wind drifted layers above loose facets on steep north aspects. My ability to insert a ski pole to the ground rang instability. The layers of surface wind drifted snow did not show propagation potential. ECTX
