Snowpack

I dug a pit around 12,000ft on a southeast facing slope, top 5cm warming and wet, the storm event had settled to a 4F to 1F hard Slab on top of a crust around 70cm down. Another few cm of 4F slab on top of more crust facet junky snow. I did a compression test that failed on the first tap on this junky layer. It was also near by a rock in my pit, but pretty alarming “drop” SC in fracture character. Stuck to traveling on the ridge which consisted of a mix of hard frozen crust and soft warming sastrugi, that skied pretty nice.
