Very pleasant day in the high country. Light winds, clear sky, and mild temperatures.
Snowpack
Strong winds have done a number to exposed slopes above treeline. Sastrugi was observed on the surface and a breakable crust was experienced while skiing. Below treeline on a west facing slope the snowpack is thin. Weak faceted snow sits below the new snow from Wednesday night. Snowpack tests gave no results of propagation on this slope. Boot and ski penetration to ground. Loose Dry avalanches were easily triggered from steep rocky terrain. No cracking or collapsing observed
