Snowpack

Touring up the south facing, near treeline apron of the Haiyaha couloir we found variable snow depths from 190 to 50 cm's. Average around 160 cm's. Basal facets were detectable in the bottom 10cm of the snowpack with a lot of spatial variability. Some spots felt like weak facets were non-existent, others felt quite hollow. (These obs all based on probing with poles and/or probes, not actual digging) In isolated areas a 1.5-2cm windslab was propagating and sloughing off. Half-way up the couloir we bailed due to an ever thickening sun crust on the surface as we ascended. Ski conditions down the apron were quite pleasant. No relevant avy obs from Dream chute/Mario's, ski conditions were tracked but pleasant.
