Chicago creek delivered the goods. Below treeline is crunchy boot pack suffer-snow, but once we were in the upper treeline the skinning was easy. Only saw some very minor sluffing from the upper alpine on the way up. Skied two exposed and steep lines from the top of the ridge. Ridges were wind effected as expected, but the snow quality in the lines was unreal, 5-10 cm of fluffy cold powder on a happy base. Snow was noticeably denser in the lower part of the bowls as we descended. On our North aspect skintrack/bootpack there was a very firm slippery base covered with this soft cold snow, it made for slippery skinning but good booting. Found a solar crust on West and South aspects that was developing a hoar frost layer on top. We noticed no signs of slabs or recent avalanche activity.
