On the north face of point 12,430, at tree line, the height of the snow was 75 to 90 centimeters. We took our observations on a 38-degree slope at an elevation of 11,640 feet. The recent snowfall is forming into a more cohesive storm slab 27 centimeters thick. It is resting on a three-centimeter-thick surface hoar layer. During our compression tests, we had consistent results of CT 8-10. Below this SH layer is a layer of rounded grains, extending from 45 centimeters to five centimeters. Below this, faceted depth hoar is starting to form, a typical feature of our Continental snowpack.
