Snowpack

The 3-4" of new wind-affected snow made for difficult skiing conditions on slopes with westerly aspects. This new snow layer was very dense, with a significantly softer layer underneath formed from the 12/12-16 storm. The density change was not as pronounced in wind shelter terrain, but still clearly evident.
