Weather
Light winds throughout the day with moderate gusts turning into strong gusts around 13:00. Scattered skies and no precipitation all morning with increasing cloud cover throughout the day. Western skies grew clouded around 13:00 and snow began lightly by 13:40.
Snowpack
West facing slopes held 20-30cm of snow on open meadows with a prominent melt-freeze crust about 10cm above the ground on sun-exposed slopes. Wind-sheltered westerly slopes held about 50cm of snow with 4 distinct layers Easterly slopes were between 50-80 getting deeper the more north they face. Excluding the melt-freeze crusts and some wind-crusts on the surface all the snow I travelled through was 4F or softer. The snowpack is very weak right now.
