Snowpack
ATL on ENE aspects had varying snow depths up to 270cm in one location we probed. This deep snow consisted of mostly pen hard wind affected snow in the top meter of the snowpack. There was 20cm of wind affected pen hard snow above 10cm's of 1F decomposing grains in the top 30cm of the snowpack. Probing this area we felt weaker snow grains at the bottom of the snowpack which kept us off this aspect. More solar E and SE aspects ATL and NTL consisted of varying snow depths up to 100cm. Snowpack structure was generally faceted grains with varying crust layers. Skiing these aspects we found enjoyable turns but clipped hidden rocks on several runs.
