Avalanche
The Aspen Mountain Snow Safety department was tracking the Surface Hoar layer from late January/early February before an expected large winter storm early next week. As we were digging our snow profile we remotely triggered McFarlane's B gully with foot penetration. We had already finished excavation when one of the patrollers stepped outside our disturbed area. We felt a large collapse then observed the avalanche.
