Crown Mountain

We were in the Crown Mountain area today where we found a snow depth of 145cm. We found the November 21 Surface Hoar layer alive and well in this area. It is definitely a layer that we will watch as we continue to get test results on it. We have been testing locations where we expect to find surface hoar (sheltered treeline terrain) and with poor visibility and no direct alpine obs, we still suspect that this layer may also be in sheltered locations in the Alpine also. We are keeping our trip plans conservative while this layer is a player.
