Blackcomb mountain, specifically Horstman and Blackcomb glaciers on Friday: Snow coverage ranged from 60cm to 0cm on glacial ice on NE to NW aspects from 2280m to 2040m. Recession on Blackcomb glacier is prominent and open crevasses were observed. A natural anchor and rope was used to rappel on to the glacier and to climb back out. Skiing was variable with an average of 10cm faceting low density snow on top of a melt-freeze crust, as well as exposed ice. Small surface hoar 3mm was seen at 2050m on Blackcomb glacier.
