170116 cr is down 45-60 up to 2000m in this area. The interface between the last of the storm snow and the crust has tightened up considerably, with no significant results on this interface; however, the top 40 cm is undergoing significant facetting, with the top 20-25 fully facetted and skiing well. The only drawback is that this facetted snow moves very easily on slopes above 40 degrees and sluff management is key. Observed loose dry sluffs on steep terrain being skied that deposited to size 1.5, running fast and long and spreading beyond riders' turns. Of note, the north face of Trorey slid wall-to-wall in the last cycle and now is reloaded with 60cm of snow over bed surface.
