Weather

Thin-FEW clouds, no precipitation, very cold with temperatures falling below 0F by 3pm.

Snowpack

Dug hasty pit at top of "The Plunge." NE aspect 11,600'. HS 120cm, Approx 30cm of light density fist hardness new snow from 12/17 storm. Below that, progressively firmer slab ranging from 4F at top to 1F at bottom. 30cm of 1.5mm, fist hardness facets at base of pack. Did not perform any snowpack tests but a snowpack structure capable of producing large, destructive avalanches was clearly evident.

Observed some minor, D1 loose dry sloughs in steep terrain.
