Weather

Temps reached 40F at 10,000ft and 32F at 12,000ft. Ridgetop winds were light from the west with gusts in the teens. No snow transport. Clear skies all day.

Snowpack

The upper half of the starting zones are very shallow (2-10" of snow), all facets with a thin sastrugi crust capping them. Slabs start to build mid slope on concave terrain features up to 18” over faceted snow below. These slabs were sensitive to airblasts but light skier traffic across these slopes showed no signs of instability. Snow surface became moist in the afternoon. See flank profile of avalanche results.
