In and out of low clouds, with skies going from obscured to few. Strong sun during breaks in the the clouds quickly settled and melted snow. Periods of greenhousing affecting all aspects above treeline.
Snowpack
A period of sunny skies between 0900 and 1100 quickly settled the new snow. Top 3 cm of snow was dusty, which increased the melting. By 1100, steep southeast aspects had drainage furrows, with 2 cm of slush under the surface and wet snow extending 10 cm deep).
New snow bonded fairly well to old snow surface. As it settled, we were able to get small storm slabs on test slopes, and saw evidence of an avalanche that ran mid-morning in upper Horseshoe Creek.
