We missioned into Torpy today to set up another weather station with the help of intrepid volunteers from the Prince George Snowmobile Club. We were greeted at our staging area (about 13 km from the cabin) by a 15 cm blanket of fresh snow that increased to roughly 25 cm at the cabin. Snowfall filled in our tracks at about 1 cm per hour throughout the day while temperatures rose to a balmy -6. The mild temperatures seemed to give the snow a heavy quality that led us to suspect storm slabs would be consolidating rapidly at higher elevations.
