We snowmobiled up the Brule Creek Forestry road and then continued on skis to Nordstrom Ridge. On the ride up the road we noted multiple small (size 1.0) slabs out of the road cutbanks triggered by snowmobilers ~ 3 days ago that had failed down 40 cm on the Jan 17 surface hoar. When we transitioned to skis and started skinning up a very mellow burn we felt various whumphs and shooting cracks from 1900-2200 m in elevation. We found the weak layer to be reactive in our snow pit (ECTP 15 on SH down 45) With all these indicators we decided to ski a less steep line (30 degrees) and had great turns through the trees!
