Planned to check out ursus. Had a change of plans when my binding broke on connaught creek trail. Luckily I had extra hardware and zip ties to fix in the field. We changed our course to Grizzly trees for a more direct ride out incase the fix didn't hold. Was missing screws on the bottom of my binding, likely before we headed out for the day. Learn from my mistakes, CHECK YOUR GEAR! Luckily still had an AMAZING day out.
Snowpack
Slope angle 36 ° CTM18 PC down 25cm CTH26 SP down 125cm The first failure occurred on new storm snow accumulated over the last storm cycle. Wasn't slabbing together, mostly a slough problem. The concerning failure was the deeper layer sudden pop above a 3 cm crust. Pulled out the slab in one LG consolidated piece. Concern about avalanches stepping down to this layer.
