E aspect @ ~ 9000 feet. Snow Range Ski Area Pit dug in the trees. ~ 4 feet to the ground. Pit profile: 6 inches fresh powder ~12 inches of variable slab pencil to 1 gloved finger trending softer with depth but inconsistent vertically and horizontally. ~20 inches increasingly, but lightly, faceted snow fist to 4 gloved fingers hardness softening with depth. ~3/4" 2 gloved finger hardness w/ icy spots. ~8" fist hardness moderately faceted to ground. ETC Failed above the 3/4" layer at a depth of over 3 feet with exceptionally aggressive blows from shoulder. While it did fail, more force was used than usually applied. 10+10+10+3 strikes. The 3 were bonus to see if it would fail with harder strikes.
