Snowpack

Very few areas along Molas and Coal Bank passes have continuous snow cover, but the snow that lingers is weak or crusty. I walked just above the highway into West Lime and did a few hand pits. The snowpack there is between 0-30 cm's and consists of a mixture of crusts and facets. Though the top 5-10 cms on the surface is faceted it is not continuous as many rocks are visible. The most snow cover I observed today was in the Champion group, Coal creek, and Dear Creek.
