Weather
Clouds parted during the morning hours. Temperatures remained cool with ample sunshine. Winds strong more exposed on ridgelines.
Snowpack
Recent winds have done a number to the snowpack. Many windward slopes are stripped and old ski tracks exposed. Due to the strength of the wind over the past few days the snow is redeposited further down the slope. Overnight a quick moving storm brought snow and wind to the 550 area. Forecasters only measured 2" at the Red Mountain Pass study plot. Traveling in less wind affected areas it seemed like 4"-5" is really what had fallen. Drifts of the new snow were up to a foot deep but did not crack under ski pressure. With the looming Large Persistent Slab problem I continue to travel on low angle slopes without overhead hazard.
