Clear and calm to start the day with increasing West Southwest wind especially around midday. A few lenticular clouds over the Continental Divide and increasing temperatures to near freezing.
Snowpack
Took a rec day to look at the West Southwest facing slopes off Richmond Ridge. Total snowpack depth is around 50 inches or 130 cms with the lower half of the snowpack consisting of faceted grains that increase in resistance with depth. Above those sintering facets the top half of the snowpack is generally weak with a noted lack of melt-freeze crusts aside from one in the mid-pack. The 2/3 interface has completely faceted with the surface slab also showing signs of degrading. Non propagating large column results down 27 cms on 2mm faceted grains.
