overcast skies, trying to break a bit by late afternoon. balmy ... temps mid 30s ° F throughout afternoon. calm winds. ~ 1 cm of new snow in past 12 hours.

Snowpack

dug pit on 26° NNW aspect @ 9235' BTL site in protected glade. HS averaged 140 cm in this zone. 3 CTs as follows: CTM (18) BRK/Q3 @ 20 cm down on 4F hardness snow below. CTM (16) BRK/Q3 @ 20 cm down on 4F hardness snow below. CTM (17) BRK/Q3 @ 20 cm down on 4F hardness snow below. found a thin, P hardness M/F crust (approx 2 mm thick) 1 cm down from snow surface (light dusting of overnight snow here). F hardness snow below this layer sitting above the 12/24 ice layer santa brought us which was 5 cm down and approx 5mm thick. F hardness below this M/F sandwich until 20 cm down where CT failures were noted above.
