Avalanche
A snowmobile triggered an avalanche in Shrine Bowl, Vail Pass, on Saturday Feb. 17 at approximately 11am. The avalanche was located midslope of the bowl. The crown and run out we're both about 120ft wide and slid approximately 500ft. Crown height was approx. 3ft . Avalanche was triggered approximately 50ft uphill from the flats as the snowmobiler was beginning to try to high mark. According to bystandards the snowmobiler was buried to his head and snowmobile completely buried other then one handlebar sticking out. He had no avy gear and was dug out by passer-byers and apparently was uninjured. Will send pictured later.
