Snowpack

There was a shallow crust present on more southerly aspects, soft surface conditions remained on E/NE slopes that we skied on. HS was roughly 120cm in the below treeline terrain we were skiing.

Avalanche

We observed a fresh avalanche (last night?) at around 11900', SE aspect. Unknown trigger, but no tracks near. Hard Slab ~600' wide, 200' vertical at the max. Crown averaged around 2.5', but was easily 4 or 5 feet deep in a few places and had stepped into older snow. This was a large avalanche on a relatively small slope. R3D2 We checked out the skier's left flank. Seems to have slid on a a facet layer above a 2-3cm decomposing crust, there was another 50+ cms of weak snow below that crust.
