Weather
15 deg temps during the day 1-25-19. Low of about 0 deg last night 1-24-19. We have gotten 5-6 inches of snow in the area of the slide the past 2 days. Wind has been gusty blowing from the north / northwest the last 2 days.
Snowpack
Snowpack in the area of the avalanche should be layered and sun affected. I have not skied or skinned near or on that aspect but ski and skin a similar aspect one valley south of the avalanche area in the Bemrose Creek area. Snow should be similar. Wind affected and normally crusty.
Avalanche
Avalanche happened on one of the lower south facing aspects of Red Mountain in Blue River / Hoosier Pass area. Crown elevation is 12,000ft. Ran into valley which sits roughly 500 feet below. Cal Topo registers angle of aspect at 30-35 deg. Not sure how accurate that is.
