Broken skies cleared to scattered clouds with strong winds at the ridgetop from the northwest. Temperatures warmed into the 30s by the afternoon.
Snowpack
There were some drifted areas near the ridgeline, but in most places, ground obstacles like rocks, stumps, and grass were visible poking out of the snowpack. We found harder, drifted snow resting on softer, older snow in some isolated areas on northerly-facing slopes. On more easterly slopes, only found snow from the most recent storm resting on the ground. In drifted areas, snowpit tests had propagating results after taps from the elbow at the interface of the drifted snow and softer snow beneath. Southerly and westerly slopes were either completely stripped of snow or the snow had melted back to the ground.
