Smuts Birdwood traverse and Commonwealth Valley

Generally multidirectional thick wind slab throughout the traverse above treeline and solar crust on south facing slopes. Boot pack was solid and hard never penetrating through to any facet layer. no recent avalanche activity observed. no pits dug .stability was good. NOTE that Mount Smuts face is fully loaded and receiving lots of solar throughout the day and there are multiple skin tracks in the huge runout area that saw a 3.5 in late December. this should be avoided.
