Snowmobile AST1 Course. Multiple old size one slab avalanches observed through the day in alpine terrain, all aspects. All the usual South Rain Gauge suspects were present: large cornices developing, lots of wind effect in open areas, but with good 'firm' powder riding in the trees. 150cm height of snow, -6C. Multiple snow pits at bottom of bowl with had similar observations: CTM RP down 20 on windslab, and CTH RP down +/-100 on the facet layer. 20cm of ice at bottom of snowpack. Watched several riders execute ambitious pulls into alpine snow fields with no results.
