Skin from car on rainbow lake trail. We skied two laps from 1600m down to 1400m on some fun and soft pillows. We peaked into the alpine and saw some windloading. We tried a few hand-shear tests at 1600m and found an unconsolidated medium powder chunks 20cm deep with an uneven fracture texture on a density change in the snowpack. As we went higher past treeline the chunks became slightly slabbier. Moderate SW winds in alpine, nothing below treeline. Mix of sun and clouds throughout the day.
