Went out for a mellow day up Helena East Ridge given the avy conditions. Lots of whumpfing and shooting cracks in the trees, even when following the existing skin track. Signs of recent slab avalanches in steep terrain and heard one release. 15cm powder on top of bare rock in the alpine, better coverage at treeline and below. Highlight was the inversion over the valley from the ridge.
