Whymper North Glacier

Skied up the Whymper North Glacier route today. We got to within 150m of the col where spooky, hard wind slabs turned us around. In the upper portion of the drainage anything steep had stiff wind slabs or sluff debris making for challenging skiing. Another party ski cut a healthy size 1 wind slab which ran far and fast in a steep gully feature. Fortunately sheltered lower angle terrain skied great! The final moraine slopes to the valley floor have been heavily skied this weekend. Here the steeps still skied well with no wind effect. Most of the slide paths coming in the Chickadee valley have some (or lots) of tracks but there are still places to find fresh if you look a little closer.
