Weather
Way too warm. Temps well above 32F into the high 30s and low 40s. Light N winds kept snow cool along the Divide.
Snowpack
Significant settlement in the new snow- 6" in 24 hours. Surface hoar formed in favored locations, 3-4 mm typical. Widespread melt-freeze crust found in terrain on the southern half of the compass.
Avalanche
Observed several natural avalanches in the South San Juan Wilderness from the recent cycle ending 3/13. Not widespread, but large and all easily seen from miles away.
