Light winds from the S and light snow continued through most of the day--accumulation was less than one inch.
Snowpack
On southeast to west-facing slopes near treeline that previosuly had snow coverage, the height of snow was 100 cm. On these slopes 30 cm of new snow was over a pencil to knife hard 5-8 cm crust. Below the crust the snowpack is faceted to the ground. Other southeast to west-facing slopes were still showing considerable amounts of rock and grass. On northwest to east-facing slopes there was approximately 120-130 cm of snow. On most aspects over 35 degrees avalanches occurred in the new storm snow and stepped down to old faceted snow. Brief moments of clear skies showed that avalanches observed yesterday above Gibbs Creek propagated widely. Below treeline, the storm snow bonded well to crusts on solars. On faceted north-facing slopes below treeline there were no signs of instability.
