Planned to ride an avy path coming down to Boom Lake. We skinned up the lake and right away once we got on the path we started to get whumphing and shooting cracks going up to 10m. We decided to dig a pit on a small convex roll that is 35 degrees. Identified a surface hoar/crust layer 45 cm down. Column failed on 2 easy on this layer as a sudden plannar failure. Same results on a extended column test (4 easy). Obviously decided to find some super melow trees to ride instead. Triggered a small slab while leaving but didn’t really run because the slope was too small. All goes to show that the bulletin isn’t accurate for everywhere so best to check for yourself.
