Snowpack

Dug on a north east facing, wind-drifted area at 10 800'. Three ECT test results: ECTP 11/4/11 at the lower of two melt-freeze crusts. The new snow has formed soft slabs in this area, which have bonded well to the old wind slab on northeast and melt-freeze crust on east. Minor cracking was observed around skis, and no other instability was observed. Small cornice broke away easily, but did not entrain any snow on small slope tests. The first clearly visible dust layer can be seen at the new/old snow boundary.
