Snowpack
An estimated 4-6 inches of snow fell during Monday's storm. What the storm lacked in snowfall it made up for in extreme south and southwest winds. Evidence of intense wind stripping was observed at all elevations. Below-treeline old tracks raised and above treeline some slopes are back to rock. Drifted pockets of snow up to 2 feet, cornices, and cross-loaded terrain observed. With the strength of the wind many of the loaded area are far down the slope. Drifted pockets of snow below treeline were not reactive and the new dense snow appeared to bond well. It will be interesting to see if this is the case at upper elevations. The new snow also looked pink while breaking trail. Dust?
