About an inch of new snow fell overnight.On southerly aspects and sun-exposed slopes, the new snow fell on a thin melt-freeze crust. On northerly and shaded slopes, the new snow fell on faceted surfaces. The facet/crust combination from 12/11 has become stubborn, trending to unreactive in many places at the upper end of BTL. Extended column tests produced non propagating moderate results on a northeast-facing slope above Gibbs Creek, near treeline, ECTN16. An east-facing slope in Albertas cousin produced hard propagating results with extended column tests ECTP29. This slope did collapse and produce a significant whumpf though when exiting the pit
