Sunny Skies and warm. No blowing snow visible in any direction from the Continental Divide
Snowpack
No signs of instability could be found. In most areas the snowpack depth is between 2 to 2.5 meters. A stout melt-freeze crust exists sunny aspects that had not softened by 1200. On northerlies, thin wind-boards can be found near treeline and on open slopes below treeline. I dug on a north-facing slope that had been previously wind-loaded and then scoured on several occasions near treeline. The snowpack depth is about 150 cm, right side up and no results could be forced out of extended column tests. A thin knife hard wind layer is obvious in the upper third of the snowpack. The basal depth hoar is rounded, well bonded and pencil to pencil plus to the ground
